2012 – Healthcare for Victorian prisons
GEO Care Australia (formerly Pacific Shores Healthcare) secures the contract to deliver primary health services to all 12 of Victoria’s publicly managed prisons. The contract began on 1 July 2012. 2012 – GEO provides Australia's first Social Benefit Bond The GEO Group Australia is selected, in partnership with Mission Australia and Social Finance, to develop and deliver Australia’s first Social Benefit Bond. 2012 – Fulham celebrates 15 years The Fulham Correctional Centre celebrates its 15th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, long service awards are given to forty staff who have been employed at the Centre since it opened in 1997. 2011 – Fulham is Victoria's leading employer Fulham Correctional Centre is named Victoria’s most outstanding employer. The Centre received the prestigious Victorian Employer of the Year award for the world-class courses and correctional practice training it develops and delivers. 2011 – Junee breaks new ground Junee Correctional Centre (JCC) breaks new ground with Australia's first ‘Prison Build’ project, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, TAFE NSW Riverina Institute and Junee Shire Council. Inmates start building a house on premises to be relocated to a block of land in Junee. 2009 – Parklea Correctional Centre contract In September 2009 GEO was selected by the NSW Government above other competitive bids to operate Parklea Correctional Centre in Western Sydney. The company commenced operation of the Centre at the end of October 2009. 2009 – 10 years at Melbourne Custody Centre GEO celebrates 10 years managing the Melbourne Custody Centre which manages more than 20,000 prisoner trasfers each year. 2008 – Moorabbin Justice Centre trial In August 2008 GEO began managing the Moorabbin Justice Centre custody and court escort service on a trial basis for the Victorian Government. 2008 – Environmental recognition Junee Correctional Centre becomes the first prison in Australia — and one of the first in the world — to be globally recognised for its commitment to the environment when it gains an International Certification of Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001). Both Fulham and Arthur Gorrie secure this accreditation later the same year. 2008 – Building Better Lives program The GEO Group Australia introduces its ‘GEO Builds Better Lives’ program. The program focuses on growth and development for the business, GEO employees and the people in GEO’s care. 2008 – 15 years at Junee The GEO Group Australia celebrates 15 years at the Junee Correctional Centre. |
2008 – 10 years at Fulham
The GEO Group Australia celebrates 10 years at the Fulham Custody Centre, with a celebration to acknowledge the 85 employees who had been working at the prison since it opened. 2007 – Arthur Gorrie tender success In 2007, the year GEO celebrated 15 years at the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre, the company won a competitive tender to operate the Centre for a further five years, to the end of 2012. 2005 – Custody Centre contract renewed In 2005, the Victorian Government renewed GEO’s contract to manage the Melbourne Custody Centre for a further five years. The Government cited the Centre's efficiency and the professionalism of our staff as its main reasons for the decision. 2004 – The GEO Group Australia established On 15 January ACM changed its name to ‘The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd’. This followed a management buyout deal of its parent company in the United States that required WCC to change its name to ‘The GEO Group, Inc.’ 2003 – 10 years at Junee ACM celebrated 10 years of operating Junee Correctional Centre. 2002 – 10 years at Arthur Gorrie ACM celebrated 10 years managing the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre. 1999 – Melbourne Custody Centre The Melbourne Custody Centre came under ACM management in March 1999 under contract to the Victoria Police. 1998 – Healthcare for Victorian prisons On 1 January 1998, Pacific Shores Healthcare, a business operated by ACM, becomes responsible for the delivery of health services at nine public prisons across Victoria. 1997 – Fulham Correctional Centre opens The 782-bed Fulham Correctional Centre opens near Sale, in regional Victoria, on 7 April 1997. 1995 – A new facility for Victoria In 1995 the company won its third contract – to design, build, finance and manage the Fulham Correctional Centre in Victoria. 1993 – Milestone in New South Wales Junee Correctional Centre begins operations on 19 March 1993, the first privately-run jail in New South Wales. 1992 – First Australian contract awarded ACM won two tenders for the management of prisons in Australia with Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre in Queensland becoming its first operational facility in June 1992. In the same year, ACM is awarded a contract to design, build and operate the Junee Correctional Centre for the New South Wales Department of Corrective Services. |
